The Spirit Engine DX is going commercial

After a full year of development in 2024 and getting involved with the original developers Mark Pay & Josh Whelchel, we are making the ultimate decision to go commercial! It's surreal to be collaborating with my childhood role models 2 decades later!

That means…go wishlist the game on Steam! Right now!

It's also the reason why I switched off the ability to donate to the game on the 23rd of November, 2024. Again, thanks to those who chimed in a bit of coin & support! It means a lot. Once the game is out on Steam and has received at least 10 reviews, I will turn on the ability to purchase a No-DRM version of the game here, with a Steam key included.

Roadmap:

  1. Ongoing bugfixes, quality-of-life and game feel improvements
  2. Implement all remaining cutscenes
    1. Hailey's Glen Trouble
    2. All 9 character intros
    3. The Sheltered Glade
    4. En-route to Pansylvania
    5. The Frozen Waste
    6. The Inky Pit
    7. Hanash Basin
    8. The Ralton Express
    9. The Blazing Sands
    10. Boardroom
    11. Endings
  3. Revamp all remaining large art assets for large resolutions
  4. Tutorialisation
  5. Multiple save slots
  6. Revamped menus and UI
  7. Game over screen with context-sensitive defeat tips
  8. Polished demo
  9. Revamp 1v1 fights into 3v3 fights
    1. The original 1v1 fights are not very good in hindsight from a design perspective, as they are in essence interactive cutscenes and the gameplay for Clara & Clementas is unfun
  10. Aegin and Tza Tze as helpers at final boss
  11. Final boss revamp (make Life Drain, Lasso, Rock Rain and Power Shot viable)
  12. Achievements

Do you think it is likely that, post launch, you will invest any time in making it SteamDeck playable?

It's considered for post-launch for sure! 😁
